Colored Composite Fillings |
Dr. Hussey believes in restoring
decayed teeth with composite fillings rather than metal, mercury
amalgam fillings. Composite, tooth colored fillings, bond to the
teeth to strengthen the natural tooth structure. Along with the
clinical benefit, you also get esthetics. Composite fillings
blend in with your natural teeth, and you will never know you
had a filling. There is little to no post op sensitivity as
well.

| Root Canal
Therapy |
| Natural teeth are meant to last a
lifetime. Even if one of your teeth should become critically
injured or diseased, it can often be saved through a
specialized dental procedure known as endodontic treatment.
Although this technique, popularly known as root canal therapy,
has been around for several decades, recent advances in the
field of endodonctics have made root canal therapy almost a
routine procedure. If the damaged or diseased pulp is not
removed, the tooth and surrounding issues become infected. Pain
and swelling may accompany the infection. Even in the absence of
pain, certain byproducts of a diseased pulp can injure the bone
that anchors your tooth in the jaw. |

| Crown &
Bridge |
Which material is best?
Crowns and Bridges are made of the same material. Both the
“look” and function of your crowns are considered when choosing
the materials most suitable for you. Your Dr. Hussey will
consider the both location, the position of the gum tissue, and
the amount of tooth that shows when you smile, the color or
shade of the tooth and the function of the tooth.
Crowns are made from a number of materials; Full cast gold
alloys, porcelain fused to metal, or full porcelain. A porcelain
outer shell, attached to a durable metal shell inside (porcelain
fused to metal) are most commonly used on posterior teeth
because they are esthetic yet strong. All porcelain crowns are
most commonly used on front teeth. Porcelain crowns look very
natural and don’t have a dark metal line. They also reflect the
light with a natural healthy glow. |

| Crown |
| If you want your smile to be your
crowing glory, you need healthy, attractive teeth. When they are
cracked, stained or damaged, however, your teeth detract from
your dental health and your appearance, too. To restore them,
Dr. Hussey may recommend crowns. You will be impressed with your
decision to do crown and bridge procedures, as this is Dr.
Hussey’s specialty. What is a crown and why are they used?
A crown is a restoration that covers, or caps, a tooth to
restore it to its normal shape and size. Its purpose is to
strengthen or improve the appearance of a tooth. A crown is
placed for a number of reasons:

| Bridge |
In cases where teeth are missing,
a bridge prevents the remaining natural teeth from shifting so
that dental health and facial esthetics are not compromised.
Bridges may also provide a permanent, non-removable alternative
to removable partial or full dentures. Whether supported by
natural teeth or implants, bridges can offer life-like esthetics
and stable chewing surfaces.
